lucky... wish we had something like that in CA, because I'd move up to a SV650s in an instant.koji52 wrote:if you're in jersey, pennsylvania, or i think delaware, you can get "Rider Insurance"...my rate is 159/year for just the liability...with premium it's four payments of 180 for the whole year...meanwhile geico and progressive are between 800 - 3000/year...i'll take the rider insurance haha

You're right. But he's 17. He'll get it anyway.storysunfolding wrote:It's a better choice than an R6 but I still don't think it's a good beginners bike.
[b]Are you a beginner rider?
Have a lot of questions about motorcycling?
Not sure what bike to start with?

Actually my friend has it and i'm buying it from him, he let me drive it a few times and i can handle it, ive been riding dirtbikes my whole life it's not that hard to handle, I have a Honda CR450F dirtbike right now, But yeah i've driven the yzf600 a few times up and down his street it's not that bad i just gotta get used to the clutch and shifting on it

Dirt bikes and road bikes are very different. There are actually some skills in dirt bike riding that will hurt you fast on the road, such as letting your rear tire re-engage after locking it up without coming to a full stop. We could do a laundry list of reasons on why this is a good idea, but like previously mentioned you're probably going to do it anyway
I'm willing to bet that if you run the numbers- the insurance on the yzf600 is still expensive for you.
