She's bigger so she has the right to do anything she wants to you. Ok, that's just the NY mentality. The NYPD are cracking down on illegal bikers but it's not just the aggressive riders but people like me who accelerate to the speed limit in a short order. Meanwhile the cagers who tailgate, cut off and move into a lane with a biker gets away even if the useless Nassau County PD is there watching.

Unlicensed bikers are a major problem fine, but there are many more uninsured and unlicensed drivers.

Maybe I'm just angry since my court date is coming up.

This happens to me lots. I think it has to be either a) driver thinks my bike is too loud (hard to see though) or b) I'm too close behind them.

In my case b) seems most likely. The only thing is, the idea of too close/too far from the car in front of you is pretty subjective. If I'm far back for the driver infront of me, the driver behind ME might think I'm dawdling. Which happens to me too.

You can't win Matthew. I think you did the right thing by carrying on your business. That's hard to do too...my hat's off to you.

As for Canadians being courteous, I'm not an expert, but I'm not too sure about that...I see good courteous drivers, and I see the others too. I think it's probably the same everywhere.

Yup totally nuts, there's just no explanation for people and what they do sometimes so don't even try.

Just out of curiosity, is there some kind of NY law that says how fast you're allowed to accelerate to the speed limit? In most states, as long as you're not pulling a wheelie or doing a burnout, there's nothing to keep you from accelerating as quickly as you want to. Personally, I always accelerate hard off a light, so I don't have to be mixing it up with the "pack".

I wouldnt mind moving to Canada, only I dont really know it. Living in generaly the same area all my life, I kinda figured out how the whole "system" works. That and trying to get into a medical program in the US, changing countries would probably be like doing the whole thing all over again.

flynrider- NY state law say that troopers can pull you over for whatever they want whenever they want however they want. You gotta trust me on this one.

lol glad in michigan they have to have a reason to pull you over. of course that reason could be as little as a broken tail light or a non functioning one which for them isnt hard to make happen assuming they dont have a dash mounted camara in the car.

I guess you could always say "Show me my skid marks if I took off too fast?" or "If I popped a wheelie I want to see the picture of it or the video of it just to make sure I truly did it".

Course I would prob be one of those dicks that would say something like "was it entertaining cause I dont remember doing it let alone feeling my bike do it".

Canada.

to a point.....however try riding or driving in say, Surrey BC, Richmond BC or worst yet, Calgary AB.

No such law, and plus plenty of people from the ashat immigrant taxi driver to the rich b itch in the Suburban pulls out from a light quickly and have no such problems.

I can't do any wheelies on my bike and I like my tires to last me so no burnouts.
