Jeans do nothing in a motorcycle crash... do you know why? because they don't do anything on a 10 MPH mountain bike crash. They come to shreds and eff up your skin bad. Get some armored jeans, textile, or leather pants.
When I rode to school, I wore full gear. I mean, no one really gives a crap about you, they may look at you funny, but they don't care. It's what motorcyclists wear and if they think it's stupid, they obviously don't know what they're talking about.

Were you able to order from them and have it shipped to the US? I really dig the urban camo draggin pants but I never understood why they dont sell them stateside. How much did shipping run you?

The answer, of course, is whatever makes you feel comfortable. Don't be concerned about what other folks are wearing or doing on their bikes, just worry about what *you* do.
However, while you are thinking about what to wear, consider other times you may have kissed the pavement. Bicycle accident? Skateboard? How well did you hold up in those relatively mild falls? Heed Wrider's advice and think about how your skin will hold up at 35 (or 70). Now how much protection do you want?
I also do a lot of sea kayaking and we have a saying in the community. "Dress for the swim, not the paddle." I apply the same logic to motorcycling. "Dress for the slide, not the ride." For me, that means all the protection I can afford: armored jacket, gloves, helmet, boots. Pants are next on my list.

Sure. Shipping was pretty fast too - a few days. Can't remember how much the shipping cost, but it'll tell you at some point in the check-out process before you confirm the purchase. I have both an 800cc Suzuki C50 and a 150cc Vespa, and commute to work everyday from Brooklyn to Manhattan up the FDR on the Vespa, so wanted office-appropriate clothes that offer some protection (it's a short but brutal ride). The chino pants and ultra-light jacket did the trick.
