I had a friend who used to drag race, and he used an air shifter. does anyone know if this would be appropriate for street use? The bike was strip only, wheelie bars and the like.

Yeah, like I said in my post, Kliktronic or Pingel. All the shifter does is move the gear shift lever. On the track, it does reduce shift time and makes for consistent shifts at full throttle. Basically, the name of the game in drag racing is scrape off as much time as you can, anywhere.
Of course, you can race around on the street, but may not last too long
