No more typically the tower fell over inside the tank.
I've never heard of one falling over. I guess you learn something new every day.

I have run out of fuel one the road once before, but it was over 20 years ago and the story is so politically incorrect there is no possible way I could relate it here without inciting a riot.
I've stranded myself out in the bush several times by miscalculating my range, terrain and by having too much dam fun to stop.
It always sucks though.....

No Witnesses....

i see what your saying...
i will take the tank off and clean everything out this week...
another quick question...
-can you foul plugs by running out of fuel?
i ask this, because the day i ran out, approx 65-70 miles latr the bike sputtered out a little at high speeds... i was doing about 80mph and the bike lost power than regained it quickly and backfired once... it did this about 4x's... almost as though it was running out of fuel again...
in the past i had a 4cyl bike that would foul plugs quite often, and when it did it often happened like that...
so, since my bike has 2 plugs per cyl, i think, could i have fouled one? or is there another reason for the misfires?
thanks

Sounds more like a fuel supply problem maybe related to missing gallon.zuke wrote:i see what your saying...

ok, so i got off of work this morning and drained the tank, and took off the petkok...
here are some pics of what i found... not that bad, but still bad... the filters were doing a great job of stopping this crap from getting to the carb, but i think the backfiring issue is the occasional gunk particle making its way through...
any one know a good way to clean out the tank without ruining it???
i was planning on using carb cleaner and a air nozzle to work it loose...
let me know... thanks
zuke

the one pic shows the underside of the tank where the petkok was...
the other one shows the plugs... not too bad...
let me know what you think...
thanks
