Hello badinfluence,

I am new here too, and also see that you are now a regular, you HAVE been busy! It does look like a pretty good site, I checked it out off and on for about a week.

I'm the one that our Texas guy Pat was referring to. No, Pat not rich. But yes, I am 52 and my husband is 54. He will retire, but didn't say he still wouldn't be doing something. ;)

I am going to hang around for a while, about 6 more years, to get the medical where I work as it is pretty good.

So, welcome from another newby!

1960. Trying to get a picture posted. Its still in my possession but it has been sold. Trying to find a way to get it to the new owner. I thought it was gonna be hard to part with because I've had it forever. I mean forever. Garaged kept, maintain impecably. It wasn't a bike for just anyone. Foot clutch, suicide shifter, open 3 inch primary, ape hangers, only throttle on the handle bars and no front brake. Solo seat with a luggage rack on the back hinged fender. I raised hell on that bike from my early 20's until about 5 years ago. Just didn't want to have a kick start anymore. Tired of the antiquated technology and wanted seomthing with as many ammenities and creature comforts as possible. Wanted a more modern bike and the only way that was gonna happen was if I sold the Buell and the Pan which I did.

 Yah, I know. I am an owner admin of a site and I am very familiar with how these work. I been busy with my site so would only lurk here and read here and there. Finally decided to take a break from my web site and contribute to this one. I have been a rider all my life. This site has everything and I just really feel comfortable here. I am even more outgoing in person.

I am 51 one and my wife is 52. I rode non stop but she took a break from being a passenger while we were raising the kids as we both felt we wanted to eliminate any chance of both of us being taken out in an accident on the bike. Now we are literally gearing up for a two pronged (her and me) atttack of being on two wheels (and a sidecar now) together again. She sure is a fussy motorcycle gear purchaser. Where looks is more important then function :frusty: :) Wait until she gets caught in the rain or coldweather w/out a full face or flip helmet.

As forums go this is a great one. Better then mine even. Yeah like you, I lurked here but for ages and recently finally commited to jumping in and registering. While being a long time rider I sort of fell out of the motorcycel community per say because of growing obligations with my childrens needs as they got older and work and bills and such. At one time I worked 2 jobs, 70-80 hours a week for 6 years.
I'm the one that our Texas guy Pat was referring to. No, Pat not rich. But yes, I am 52 and my husband is 54. He will retire, but didn't say he still wouldn't be doing something.
Ha ha we are in the same age bracket. Thats assuring! Most of the riding I've done over the past 12+ years has been solo and by myself. Most of the guys I know who ride do so principally to save money on gas and wouldn't think of going to far from home. They just picked it up in there mid 30's and aren't comfortable and prfer riding by themsleves. Hell one 30ish guy has the bike(1992 Suzuki Intruder 800) but never ever rides it?
I am going to hang around for a while, about 6 more years, to get the medical where I work as it is pretty good.
I am a Administrative Officer of the Day and my wife an RN at a local hospital. We both got about too many years to go before we can retire.
So, welcome from another newby!
Thanks much and I will try to manage my enthusiasm. :( Its not gonna be easy as I relate to almost everything being discussed throughout this community.

Hey badinfluence,

Yeah, we do have a lot in common, pretty cool! Yep, we are looking forward to him retiring officially this summer, will be great! Will just have to see what comes up the road.

Another site, huh? That must be the coffeehouse one? I went and checked it out a little, getting kinda late and my eyes are getting tired! This is the first site I have been on about motorcycles and I am finding it IS pretty cool!! My husband is active on the Goldwing site, but I also showed him this one, too.

I read your one post about your wife's gear. I have a First Gear jacket that is a women's and has armour in it and a liner so keeps me both warm and safe. Some of the snowmachine shops also have gear that may suit her tastes better. I sometimes wear my Reima as it also has armor in it and is pretty good as far as water proofing goes AND also has a nice fleece liner in it. Ya just gotta find a good place that has women's gear in it. Hang in there.... ;)
