I just received a TourMaster Intake jacket which I ordered online from Helmet City. They're a fantastic source for gear and I also got my new Bell helmet and gloves from them. Everything fits perfectly and I am very happy with the purchases. They have extensive sizing charts and a toll-free number for any questions, which aided my choice of sizes tremendously. I would've preferred to shop locally, but I live in a section of my state that has great riding, but is many miles between motorcycle dealerships.
The Intake jacket is a true 3-season riding jacket. The outer shell is mesh with armor in the elbows, shoulders and back. I read reviews before buying that stated it was cooler than just wearing a t-shirt on 90-degree days and you still have great protection. There are two zip-out liners, one is wind and water-proof and the other is insulating Thinsulate. Mix and match to fit to virtually any weather condition. I can't say enough about this jacket. It's a rider's dream. The reason I chose a TourMaster jacket was because I owned several products made by them over 20 years ago before I quit riding for a while. I still have my one-piece TourMaster rain suit which kept me dryer than any other rain gear I had ever worn. I would ride to work in a total dounpour and have not one drop of water on my work clothes when I arrived. I've never been able to throw it out in all these years and now I'm glad it will see use once again.
Sorry for the Tourmaster commercial, but I think it's great to return to riding after so many years to find that the same companies that made fine, quality gear are still in business with the same high standards, helping to make riding such a pleasurable experience.

One more problem that might be a problem with my jacket Im finding. Just when trying it on in the house, one of the zippers self retracts. The zipper that is on the bottom inside of the cuff of the sleeve (about 5-6" long total) tend to retract a little (about 1/4" to 1.5") to a lot depending if the cuff gets over my wrist and on to my hand. It does it especially on the left one (only very slightly on my right) and does it more when bending it weirdly (when I bent over to pick something up, or other odd movements). Does anyone think this is a fault or a misfit? It wasnt something I noticed when I tried it on. And does anyone think this is cause enough to send it back? Thanks.

I wish! I have the girliest wrists you've ever seen on a guy. Hell, at 6 foot, 160 lbs with 6% body fat, I'm doing alright.

Dang dude, go eat a hamburger or two.

You kidding? I lost 100 lbs that I put on after my accident in late 06 last year. I'm pretty much muscle and awesome right now.

And I eat burgers every day b/c my trainer has me on a crazy workout. I NEED ~4,000 calories a day to not lose weight.

Its well made and fits well except for two small issues that I cant tell if they matter or not:

The jacket sleeves are a little long. Maybe 1-1.5 inches too long. But I cant really go down a size due to the other measurements. When my arms are straight (making the sleeves as long as possible) they come down a bit past where my thumb starts (not the tip, the joint). When bended to where handlebars would be, it comes just a tad past my wrist. Is this too far?


The other issue is when the textile side panels are installed, and when I bend my arms as much as possible, it causes a little discomfort and pain in the crook of my elbow (more in left than right). I cant tell if its just the brand new leather being too stiff or not.

The jacket is made that way on purpose. The sleeves have to be long because the majority of the time you have your arms extended when riding. This causes the sleeves to ride up your arm.

Yeah, it actually fits well I've found. The main thing I'm a little worried about now is the zipper issue I posted about above. I just can't decide if its no big deal, a defect in the jacket, or a problem with it just fitting me in particular. It's probably not a problem, since the sleeves also have a little velco at the wrists to tighten as well.

I wear a Joe Rocket that the one zipper on the left does the same thing. Probably made by the same person in China.

Wow Teek, that is really weird. It is indeed only my left zipper. Right one is perfect. I just ended a email/phone conversation with JR themselves about the issue, thinking it might be a defect they know about. They were absolutely great. Superb service. Even edited some of the pictures I sent them (at their request) to show me how to test the zipper. Then called me up to confirm everything was ok. Zipper evidentially passed all the tests, but still has the problem. Oh well.

Another thing I'm worried about (again) is the length of the sleeves. I have some $11 gloves from Lowe's that are about the same length as short-cuff motorcycle gloves (but not as thick) and some ski gloves that are almost gauntlet like. The hardware gloves gave me some problems trying to put them under the sleeves due to zipper and feeling like they were pushing everything around. The ski gloves were too bulky and just barely went over the sleeves (they aren't that big to start with). I even took to pictures to show someone else: http://picasaweb.google.com/bmgibben . Anyone think that looks too high for a fully curved arm?


So, can anyone tell that I worry too much about small issues?
