Jacket Fit

Today I received my Joe Rocket Blaster 3.0 jacket!

Its well made and fits well except for two small issues that I cant tell if they matter or not:

The jacket sleeves are a little long. Maybe 1-1.5 inches too long. But I cant really go down a size due to the other measurements. When my arms are straight (making the sleeves as long as possible) they come down a bit past where my thumb starts (not the tip, the joint). When bended to where handlebars would be, it comes just a tad past my wrist. Is this too far?


The other issue is when the textile side panels are installed, and when I bend my arms as much as possible, it causes a little discomfort and pain in the crook of my elbow (more in left than right). I cant tell if its just the brand new leather being too stiff or not.

Normal... it's a great reason to not have to talk to people on the phone. I have friends who doubt put my jacket on and try to hold one arm up for a few minutes. They always try the "Why not switch arms?" arguement making me painfully review that my only having one cellphone talking hand.

Thanks for the input, that reassured me a bit. Im gonna go home tonight and try the jacket back on with my skiing gloves and see how they match up

Question: With gloves, does the jacket sleeve go over the glove, or under? Im guessing under is impossible with a short street gloves, but what about a gauntlet?

Don't make the mistake I made! I bought some really nice gauntlets but they didn't fit over my jacket!

If you are buying Gauntlets get a jacket you like first THEN check out the Gauntlets you want want!. I advise buying the gloves in store as opposed to the interwebs.

I just assumed my gloves would work with my leather jacket, but it's a painful fit... It would have definitely been smarter of me to wear the jacket when I went to buy gloves...

Yeah. Helmets, gloves, boots. Things I never buy online unless I replacing a set Ive had before. Do you guys recommend normal short gloves, or gauntlets? I may have trouble finding gaunts that fit over my jacket sleeves. The sleeve zipper doesn't stay closed as it is.

Also: What do you all recommend for summer and hot riding? It seems I will be able to afford a bike right around May, so itll be getting hot. My jacket has good ventillation for leather, but what about gloves? Mesh? Perfd leather?

Gauntlets go under the sleeve from what I've read in order to keep heat in and water out better due to the angling of the arms or something. I get lazy and just go over.

I have Icon mesh gloves that work really well for hot weather (still gets kinda sticky regardless) and fit nicely and give you a nice feel for the controls.

I have a Joe Rocket Phoenix 2.0 jacket that was good for hot weather but when night fell I got a bit chilly at times since the mesh was spaced larger. I have my eye on the Icon Hooligan (Stealth) jacket which can go for $170 - $200 but doesn't have the bulky look of my JR.

Make sure your helmet has some good ventilation, same goes for pants since motorcycle engines just love spewing hot air at you. My biggest mistake was going for black colors but I'm willing to sweat it out to look good.

Places like ridegear.com have manufacturer fitment listings (not all) so you can by a little more soundly.

Or not.

If its RAINING, then you want the gauntlets to go over the sleeves (keeps water from running UP your arm), but I find that with the long velcro tab on my jacket, etc. my Held Steve guantlet just won't fit over the cuff of the jacket.

So long as you've got overlap it isn't critical which is over the other.

Wow- none of my gauntlets will fit under my jackets. Even my lightweight ones... Maybe I have bad gear
