Master's degree from the Citadel in Charleston, SC....and here I am scrabbling for a living post-Army!
For what it's worth, success in college is NOT about learning and remembering all the stuff in the books. It IS about learning to please 30 different bosses, learning time management, and learning networking.
But mostly about accommodating yourself to what the situation, or class, requires.

Not sure what your major was boss, but biology and economics included everything listed above- especially learning and remembering all the stuff in the books, lectures, extra readings, articles referenced in footnotes of extra readings and material from other classes, some taken years prior.coffee_brake wrote:For what it's worth, success in college is NOT about learning and remembering all the stuff in the books. I am actually going to what was formerly Mount Royal College, but within the past year they have been granted university status. I was actually accepted into U of C but declined the offer of admission simply because i did not feel that i would enjoy the program i applied for. My girlfriend on the other hand is actually going to U of C for nursing.

MCN (UK version) published the results of a survey about three years ago which indicated that 47% of British bikers had university degrees. - which suggests that those of us who like to ride are a kind of 'intellectual elite.' Wow! It's an interesting idea, but as the average age of British bikers is 45 and of those that left school in the 1980s only 5% went to university, I find it all very difficult to believe.
I've been through the university system more than once. More than anything else study at university level is about acquiring a particular mind set. In recent years I've spent a good while trying to shake off the influence so that I can begin to think freely again. Not quite managed that, yet.

Although I have a Univ. degree, today its what you do afterwards with it not just that you have one. Like a high school degree 30 yrs ago, it really shows your ability to learn and dedicate yourself to a multiyear goal.
Just my 2 cents and worth less than half of that.
