The dealers hold the official invoice that they will even show you in some cases. You have to ask yourself: How are they selling this bike for cost or less? As an example; the manufacturers will put rebates to the dealers for all model "that" that are sold between February- May. So the invoice might say $15K but the rebate to the dealer that you do not know about is $1.5K. Therefore, anything the dealer gets above 13.5K is profit.

I believe this is quite common and would not show up in any of the reports that are available from the link, as I assume that they only reveal the dealer invoice (not that I am about to pay to find out).

I guess I am pretty lucky.

I have ridden all sorts of different style motorcycles. Dealers permit me to ride some motorcycles that are not being demoed. They know that I get to spread the word. I have lost the brand specific loyalty of my younger years. I say ride what you are passionate about but, try them ALL.

My priorites were as follows:

1. Price as I did not want a loan and only had a small sum.

2. Some warranty since I didn't know anything about maintaining bikes and live in a rural area with no bike shops.

3. Small enought for me to learn but big enough that I could enjoy it for several years or more. This includes able to ride it on the expressway.

My bike is a series of compromises for achieving my goals. No bike is the prefect bike. Hopefully most of our bikes do fit our individual requirements and needs.

Sell the car.

Joking man, I bet you live in snow country, or have kids to ride around, or need to take a bunch of stuff to work. Most folks just gotta have a four wheel vehicle. I don't, so when money got tight two years ago I sold the car, not a bike, and haven't looked back. I busted my behind to make enough to not have to sell a bike until times got better, and that meant putting two of the three bikes up on blocks in our tiny littled drafty garage for storage.

There is a very different feeling you get for your only ride, and when that ride is a motorcycle I think it changes how you think about yourself. When going anywhere means suiting up, in any weather, and you spend more time in your helmet than you do in front of the TV, and fixing a bike is vital if you want to get to work the next day, and you plan your grocery lists to be only as big as two saddlebags and a backpack...well riding is kinda a way of life that is way more than hobby, like it or not. But I chose it, and now that there is a steady job and all three bikes are back on the road...I *still* don't want a car!

Unless you have little kids, consider selling the car anyway, make room for a secon bike. :wink:

People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Always wear a helmet, eye protection, and protective clothing. Never ride under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

FI is awesome.... I'll never go back to carbs. Cold weather riding with my old bike was the pits.

============================
Yeah well if carbs make you crazy try getting a problem with FI, some bikes give error codes which will get you in the neighborhood but if you don't have the right diagnostic tool,,,good luck

Sell the car.
I do have two cages. I am also used to having two bikes. Here is the real prob. I have been geared up and gotten all the way out to the bike and my gut tells me that today is not a good day to ride. I will go back into the house and strip my gear off and head out to the car. I have learned to listen to that. I do also live in cooler climbs (Co.). It is actually pretty surprising here. They have the Last Annual Brass Monkey run every year on Dec. 31 (get it last annual). Most of the time it will be well attended by motorcycles. We have a great amount of riding days here. Most people don't realize that Co. is a high desert. Pretty dry in the low lands. Otherwise; I would sell the cars and broken motorcycles and have two dependables.
