I was thinking about this the other day... If the bike companies would stop putting "tuned for torque" engines into the standards/nakeds I really do think they'd sell a whole lot better. What do you think?

Yes and No.

Tuned for torque really means, "we used lots of less expensive non-high performance parts to save money.

The problem is, people expect a naked version of a bike to cost less than the fully faired version. In many cases, the naked version may cost just as much or more due to the fact that nothing can be hidden behind a fairing. All exposed engine parts must be finished with high quality material and finish. Since you are a tech, you know what I'm talking about. Hidden behind the fairing of a sport bike are ugly unfinished engine parts, hoses, and wires. In many cases, this extra attention to detail required on a nekked bike equals or exceeds the cost of all the plastic on the faired bike.
Yet the average buyer expects the unfaired version to cost significantly less. In order to do that, they skimp on the engine and the suspension to save money.

Is that Guzzi supposed to be a cruiser or something? Its running some pretty steep rake. Definitely unique looking.

That honda looks good for a retro standard. I dont see that one making it to our side of the pond.

It's a standard, albiet a long one. I haven't managed to snag a ride on one yet but it has a very low center of gravity (as felt by sitting on it compared to other Guzzis), but is still quite heavy (like most every big-bore Guzzi). Again, likely one of those bikes that looks a lot better than it functions...
