Re: Before you buy a 600+cc sportbike READ THIS!!!
Hi I just wanted to say "Thanks" for summarizing the great advice and arguments regarding buying a 600cc bike. I am ready to upgrade from my scooter and wasn't 100% sure what to buy since so many forums tout some 650's as good starters. Anyhow, I will take your advice and go slowly as there are plenty of 250's for sale.

Reading the bio of Melissa Paris she started off on a FZR600 after experiencing bikes as a passenger and then raced a CBR600 a year later. So 600cc sport bikes aren't bad to start off. I know I wished I went that route then maybe I would have more than just a hobby when it comes to racing.
One thing you can count on: You push a man too far, and sooner or later he'll start pushing back.

There are definitely people that started successfully on 600cc motorcycles. You just stack the cards against you compared to your other options. However, if you'll note Ben Spies, Nick Hayden, Valentino Rossi and more started on 125 cc motorcycles. Also a great success story.
This is just more common

I also tend to find the guys that believe the "There are two types of riders" bullshit started on more powerful bikes. I'm rocking over 400,000+ safe street miles and I know plenty of others with similar if not more impressive records

I started on a 250cc two smoke and believe me, I would've been better off had I started on a much more civilized and refined bike like the CBR600RR.storysunfolding wrote:There are definitely people that started successfully on 600cc motorcycles.
