So far it has followed its normal eruption cycle, earthquake swarms began as the magma chamber filled around December. A small fissure opened up on on the side of the mountain in March. On April 14th an eruption began from the main crater which is the current eruption. The vents on this mountain are not covered by glaciers, though some glacial melt was caused by the lava flows going down the sides (a natural product of any eruption near a glacier). It has erupted 4 times in the last 1000 years so has a history of being active. Certainly not caused by global warming.
an interesting side note, there is a larger more active volcano next to this one that has traditionally erupted shortly after this volcano in the past, that one does happen to be under a glacier (Both magma chambers are probably fed from the same mantle plume). So there is a distinct possibility of another eruption in the area in the near future.
The sheer scale of events in the earth's crust that leads up to and triggers volcanic eruptions are soo big that there is little humans could do to have any impact on it to either cause or prevent an eruption. The process leading to an eruption is caused by convection currents very deep inside the earth.
Getting back on topic. Yes scooters have come a long way, more like a small touring bike with an automatic transmission than the tiny commuting appliances of old.
