Hornet is the 599 over in Europe, dumps about 95 hp at the crank and 45ft/lbs of torque. If you want to know anything about it, I've probably already covered it in my blog linked in my sig.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

right, ill read up on that. Any way to see how much of a jump that is from the ninja? Like how much more HP, and what not. I hope im not sounding to cautius but i really dont wanna end up with a bike to powerful for me.

it's probably double the horsepower... your ninja 500 is around 50hp, right?

the 600 hornet is 95hp.

too powerful? i dunno, i have a superbike and i control how fast it goes. it's all up to you how fast you want it, up to the bike's limit of course.

i only keep it in the 3-4 rpm when im riding. i'll push it hard though when i get a chance to get some track days.

I think the big bikes can be fun. The busa, the R1, and anything with lots of power... but you never really use it and the bike feels "frustrated" like it's shouting to you " I CAN DO MORE! LET ME DO MORE!". Going on the track does allow you to touch it's potential, but not to it's full extent. It's like putting a wild mustang in the kentuckey derby. It can still run but it's not the same.

I like the smaller engines better on the street. Better fuel economy, you can better tap it's potential and you can still smoke the ricers, porches and bmw's without batting an eye.

yeah, when i finish paying for my bike in 2011. i'll get a 600 for the streets and make my 1000 a full time track bike. assuming i get to have tracks days.

The bike I started on was an ls650 Savage, 33 hp cruiser. Because of the way the engine is tuned it's remarkably gentle below 5000 rpms. Once you get above that things start to get interesting.

So I had to learn how to switch from a low hp single cylinder engine to a high hp (relatively) sport standard. If I can do it you can too. I'm not gonna say that I push it to the bikes limit, but I run her pretty hard now, and it's a really easy bike to ride.

I prefer the '04 model to the new '06 one. It doesn't have the ugly clocks, crappy windscreen, redesigned front fender and all the other things that bother me. Plus if you're lucky you can find one of the really sexy matte black ones.
