You mean where you get to pick what school you/your kid can go to?
Yup.

6 Years old? What would they do to him if he were playing Kiss-Chase?

(Nasty game that, I lost a tooth to that game)

Young Children tend to be very open emotionally with each other - touching each other, kissing and hugging are all pretty normal young child activities

Fair enough the boy needs to be taught not to, but it is a complete over reaction by the school. If my boy were involved I'd be fuming.

Most modern school adminstrators are deathly afraid of getting sued for whatever obscure reason, making them appear as absolute idiots in the eyes of anyone with a whit of common sense. This is just one example.

Kids at the age of 6 are AWARE there is a difference between boys and girls, however they aren't fully aware of what it is, or the reason for it. Saying that touching someone - especially when it isn't actual contact - at that age is a lot like saying,

"if a full grown man who was raised in the jungles of South America by a native tribe in the fashion of their peoples, hunting and gathering with simple tools and weapons gets taken to the city and while there finds a gun and shoots someone while trying to rigure out what it is, he was trying to kill the person."

It is fully beyond the scope of their understanding of the world, they have nothing to relate it to. While shooting someone out of ignorance is not acceptable, it is not his fault, he had no idea what it was. If anything the fault would fall on the gun owner who left a loaded weapon where it could be found and used.

So maybe we should be suspending the teacher rather then the student.

Oh, and I'd like to point out that the girl wasn't harmed in this incident...

No, the boy is the real victim here.

Paranoia! Just try and educate that kid on why he was suspended! He won't really understand.

Totally crazy. It sounds like that current issue in Kansas where the state attorney has issued a ruling that any sexual contact of any type or sort (includes touching and french kissing) between consenting youth under the age of 16, MUST be reported as SEXUAL ABUSE or a RAPE, and that any person who fails to report it can be charged with abetting same. This attorney is the darling of the far right wing who has being going after abortion. However, even some wing-nuts now think he's gone too far.

I am sick and tired of the leftists in this country blaming the gun owners for everything. I didn't even see in that story where the kid had the gun, or what he did with it, or who has it now.

Lets try to stick to the topic at hand, and if you want to debate gun ownership then lets do it in another thread.

Oh for the love of God, it had nothing to do with guns and gun owners. Get off it. Did you read the whole post? The whole idea was that if someone has ZERO knowledge that the action they are taking may be potentially harmful they are not totally at fault. LIKE, if some native out of the jungle FOUND A GUN, and in the process of figuring out what it was accidently shot someone.

It is a valid comparison, and if you want to take it further. Lets blame the teachers for not telling the kid it was wrong. Just like you'd blame some idiot for leaving a gun out. It wasn't about gun control before, but you just made it about it.
