The new "fun" for sportbike riders around Baltimore (and DC as well) is to do speed laps of the BELTWAY!!!
They meet up in a shopping center parking lot either early am or late at night.
We live within earshot of a feeder line to I-695 and at about 8:30pm on a week night I can hear the high rev whine of several sportbikes as they blitz south to the Beltway... then 90 minutes or so later, I hear them head back north again.
Scary, and it makes me want to come up with a way to get them off the road... legally, by impounding their bikes or something.

I see alot of that on 495 as well. The worst thing is when you're riding your bike at the speed limit right after getting past by a few of those squids and a cop pulls up behind you and tails you to your destination where he gives you a warning because they've been getting reports of street racing on sport bikesLion_Lady wrote:The new "fun" for sportbike riders around Baltimore (and DC as well) is to do speed laps of the BELTWAY!!!

Of course that only means that the Vision project is coming along. Sportbike? My 1982 553cc v-twin? Compared to the 1300cc Suzukis that flew by me? Either Ignorance rocks (most likely) or the Vision is starting to rule the night.

It refers to a car.xsyamahadg wrote:A rice burner is not a bike ? Sounds like yet another Harley man to me
"More contemporary use of the term rice burner, along with the prefix rice, has taken on an alternate pejorative meaning for an automobile that has been modified to give impression of high performance, but does not necessarily have any high-performance capabilities."

A dog had his chain reduced one link at a time, every few days, until his chain was so short he could barely move. He never resisted because he was conditioned to the loss of his freedom slowly, over time. Are we in this country becoming like the dog?

If you are seen speeding on a motorcycle, then you give the rest of us riders that follow the law a bad name. So, explain to me the "No harm, no foul" statement again????

if people are not open minded enough to know that every rider is different. then there's really nothing i can do about that.dr_bar wrote:On the contrary...verm wrote:like i said... no harm no foul.

Just because they haven't caused any accidents doesn't mean they haven't done any harm. I've seen plenty of cars and bikes speeding and going through traffic causing other people to slam on their brakes or maneuver quickly to get out of the way.
Even if it's done safely(if possible), riding at breakneck speeds on public roads gives the motorcycling community as a whole a bad name. Maybe no physical harm is done, but harm is still done.
