Im gonna have to help you refrase that. NICE bikes are not cheaper than cars. Having had POS versions of both I would Take a decent car/ Pickup truck and mediocre over crap car and nice bike any day. The bike only costs about 3000 a year less to operate than my 99 chev 1500. and half of the year it is snowing so I cant ride ( even with studded tires it is sketchy on the road lol)macktruckturner wrote:+1, again.
btw, Verm - bikes are not cheaper than cars, they aren't even cheaper than trucks - if you think they are, you're high. That is all.

I disagree, I got my bike for $1000 and it runs and looks great. Insurance is cheap for a 16 year old too at only $300 a year. I could not get a car anywhere near that cheap.macktruckturner wrote:+1, again.

You couldn't buy a car for under $1000?Flak Monkey wrote: I disagree, I got my bike for $1000 and it runs and looks great. Insurance is cheap for a 16 year old too at only $300 a year. I could not get a car anywhere near that cheap.
I could buy two with that.

It depends on what you buy. If you're the sorta guy who can pick out a reasonable bike, then yes, it can be cheaper.Flak Monkey wrote:I disagree, I got my bike for $1000 and it runs and looks great. But if you're the guy who only cares about material things and popularity, then no, bikes won't be cheaper.

Totally agree with those who told you to get & drive a car before a m-c. You need to learn how to be a good driver, drive defensively and become aware of the traffic around you and how people in general drive. I hate to generalize but there are sooooo many bad drivers out there (speeding, tailgating, no signals, distractions, road rage...just to name a FEW) that you'd be better off figuring that out first, in a car, before getting out there on a bike where you have to not only be a very aware rider yourself but know how to handle these types of drivers and situations. Now How Long you should be driving a car before venturing forth with m-c riding will really vary with the individual but my advice is to not rush it. You have LOTS of years to get to the m-c.
Ya right,
there are only 2 kinds of bikes: It's a Ninja... look that one's a Harley... oh there's a Ninja... Harley...Ninja...

to the car v. bike price debate:
maintenance on a car is high enough as it is if its new, and if you buy a car for under $1000, youll probably drop at least twice that into it just to keep the stupid thing running
bikes are definately cheaper to buy/operate but cars are still a better bargain cause for more money ur getting a bigger, more complex vehicle and they serve more purposes.
