2011 Suzuki GSX-R600 - COOL WALL VOTE: AWESOME

I ride a Suzuki so maybe I'm biased but I think the GSXR line-up is an awesome family of bikes. That's all.

Currently I'm torn between buying a second bike (cruiser) and upgrading to a brand-new sports bike. Probably this one.

You might want to look at the 750. I think it's only $400 more.

I saw a 2002 Kawasaki Ninja 636 last night parked, looked at it and thought, Suzuki GSX-600R was so much better than the 636. I felt a little sorry for the 636, although it still looks great after all these years.

636 was a pioneer in that it was the first bike that competed in the 600 class but was not actually 600ccs.

Yes, I do know that (remember, I unfortunately have too much motorcycle knowledge in my head these days).

If I remember right, the issues for Kawasaki was the 636 was seen as a "cheater bike", Kawasaki needed that extra 6% in displacement to compete with the other 600's. (I am not being bias here, I do ride a Kawasaki today). But it wasn't just the 36cc extra, the bike wasn't as good as it should be been and it was also too expensive for Kawasaki as well. Next year Kawasaki launched the ZX-6RR (what the ZX-6R should have been in the first place).

Eventually Kawasaki went on to replace the cheater 636 ZX-6R with a "non-cheater" 599cc engine in 2007. http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2 ... -ZX-6R.htm

BTW - Triumph has a very hard time competing in the 600cc market as well with the TT/Daytona 600cc sportbike which was eventually dropped and became the 650 in 2005, then the 675 in 2006.

From what I've heard that's the complete truth right there. Smaller engine, no pillion seat, and from what I hear a lot of "small production run" troubles on the 6RR.

To add insult to injury, if you wanted the Lime Green that first year, you had to get the RR.
