Over here it is kind of legal to filter to the front in slow moving or not moving traffic. I say kind of because if something does happen then the Police can decide you were riding dangerously at their discretion, and often in their view you must have been riding dangerously or there wouldnt have been an accident.

That said I do it despite having seen cars deliberately pull out on Bikes to prevent them passing. Its almost as if the car driver feels that if they cant get past then no one else should either, an attitude I really dont understand. If I or my partner have a faster moving Bike or car behind us we'll try and make space to let them through.

i agree, if im in a car and a bike can fit past me and get ahead i dont mind no sense in making them wait just because I have to wait. most people dont think its fair to let someone go ahead though its just greed and jealousy.

I come from the city where all driving or riding is quite dangerous. I learned to ride with an aggressive manor & round up stupid drivers & put them behind me.

I have had many incidences with angry drivers just because I filtered/lane-split or overtook a driver. Quite a few drivers just don't have the skills or manners to be driving, Full Stop.

I have never had a problem with a biker while I was in a car either. If I see or hear a bike, I move over & let them pass me, even in my lane if they want to, I don't care. I like to hear a bike approach as well, I like loudish pipes! But not at 4am!! I ride very sedately & with consideration especially at night & especially near my neighbourhood.

I reckon people take minor things to seriously these days, I guess this is why we have Road Rage! So I think car drivers can be way more harmful than bikers just because most drivers have no clue about the road rules or just being patient for that matter.

Also, Parking on the curb or nature strip is legal here in most Aussie States. Thank goodness no-one has ever pushed my bike over, I would not be happy to find it on it's side & I wouldn't laugh if I saw it happen to anyone.

I try to follow the same rules I did when I only drove a car. No lane splitting, parking on the sidewalk, passing in no passing zones (even though I could  ). Mainly because I don't want to be a victim of road rage or end up wrecking because I made an illegal move. I don't expect people to check their blind spot when making a left turn off a no passing area, because they shouldn't have to. Once I did use the bicycle lane to pass a van, but I was pissed off that day so it doesn't count! And another time all the spots in the lot were taken so I parked next to the bike rack... but like I said I try to follow the same rules.
iwannadie is right, people care to much about stuff that doesn't effect them. A bike lane splitting isn't going to set them back in line any farther than they are, but that doesn't change people's mentality about it. So personally I feel it's best to ride like you drive when around others.

Hey Kal is that like being a little bit pregnant?
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

Hey that happens, my ex gods take care of her, was a little bit pregnant 6 weeks before she fell pregnant. Which caused some confused maths before my son was born... But I get to spend some time with him now so it is all good!

Over here we occasionally get things that arent illegal, but our government dosnt wish to condone so its not strictly speaking legal either...

Its a 50/50 deal, i was riding at nite a few weeks after i got my bike and it was me and my friend on his shadow. We were on a country road and there were a lot of intersectios on the road. We were almost back to green bay when some lady pulls out slowly from a 2 way stop where i didnt have to stop. I locked up my brakes and just missed hitting her car, my pants bruched the rear bumper of her car. I kept on going untill i saw the nearest gas station to clen my pants. I don't know how people cant see bikes, it was 2 bikes and my Seca has a headlight and antoher light thats below it that seems to shine like a high beam. Even today i was making a right hand turn and some toyota suv tried to squeeze to the right of me. I dont get it, and they look at me funny when they get the finger.
you dont see ugly threw blood shot eyes
