OC is nice...beautiful, and warm. Yes, around my area I can ride on PCH, with ocean front view, or head over to the canyons for mild or heavy twisties. There's the enfamous Ortega Hwy, where just about everyday there's bound to be one reck.

I've been riding for a month now...put on over 1,400 miles already...and love it. I don't like to drive a car anymore.

Now I'm thinking about what my next bike is going to be after I put on another 4K miles (at least).

Yes, I wave to just about every rider out there, even the scooters. The only ones I don't wave to anymore are those riders who have bikes with pull up bars acting as handlebars...I just don't get it.
cool!

i was just on PCH today. then we headed to latigo and mulholland.

how's ortega? is it very technical? what's the avg posted speed limit?

Hi VermilionX,

Ortega Hwy is very fun...I really enjoy it...the avg speed limit is 50 to 55, with the recommended mph of 25 to 45 on turns/twisties. No, it's not very technical...depends on the time of day you ride...because when you are about to go into a tight turn, the sun could be right in your eyes...while another car is coming your way rather quickly...by the way, this is a two lane road...so you basically hope the on coming cars don't over stear, and that you don't face a big rig...not only do they take up your lane on turns, but they also produce some wind depending on the speed. Also, sometimes Ortega will have rocks and/or sand on the road, so you just have to watch the road and make sure you don't get caught up in that mess. On the way back, it pays to stop off at the Look Out Point...it's beautiful.

Happy 4th...be safe.

I was riding the canyon today, and waved to everyone...most waved back...the only ones who didn't were...guess who. Well, on the way back, I was riding behind another Harley...hehe...well, everyone waved back...hehe.

Like everyone says...I'm over it...I'll still wave to everyone just to be curtious. I'm out there enjoying the ride. If they're too full of themselves to wave back or give a head nod...then so be it.

How far are you from San Juan Capistrano?

I basically go from one end of Ortega to the other...there's not too much sight seeing at the end of Ortega...there is the look out point, and a restaurant that bikers go hang (but I haven't been there yet).

Remember, I'm a newbie...I don't carve the canyons with my knee barely touching the ground. :D I only have about 1550 miles under my belt.

you actually have more miles than me... i only have less than 1500 miles on the 750. but if you add the 2200 miles i had on the 1000, then i only have 2000 miles more than you... still a newbie either way.

Wow...3700 miles...I'm working my way up there...I'll probably be there in another month since it's taken me 4 weeks to ride 1550 miles. I'll slowly catch up to you.

So did you mapquest it? How far is it?

Wow...75 miles one way is pretty far...how in the world do you expect me to catch up to your number of miles if you keep pulling off those kind of trips? :D

Actually just go I-5 S.
Then Exit Ortega Hwy / CA-74
Then turn LEFT toward Ortega Hwy...keep going and going and going tell you reach the end.

If were were to ride together, we would meet somewhere off Ortega Hwy / San Juan Capistrano and start there.
