Is it just me? Why do most Harley riders not wave back?

#1 Unread post by VP »

Ok, is it just me? or do most Harley riders only wave to their own kind? I ride a Ninja 500 and most sport bikes wave back, some cruisers wave back...and very few Harley riders give you their time of day.

Any of you experiance the same?

it's because you're not on one. i wave to everybody, most wave back, but a majority of the ones who don't are harley riders, even though at 60+mph my vtx doesn't look much different then one (the radiator is a dead giveaway though  )

Don't feel picked on...this topic has been brought up many times on these boards and it seems everyone has a problem waving to everyone, regardless of the bike

I ride a Harley and wave to everyone only to find it doesn't matter they ride, some just won't return the courtesy.....

Some wave, some do not. Sometimes I wave, sometimes I do not.

Sometimes I'm too busy watching to road or the traffic to worry about a wave and sometimes I don't catch someone's "discreet" little wave until it's too late....then they probably think I am a snob.....

1) Not all "Harleys" are Harleys. Look closely, there are Kawi Vulcans, Yammie Stars, Honda VTX's, Zuk Boulevards, etc. mixed in. At speed on the road they look a lot alike. 2) Some cruiser riders wave, some don't. The people I find that mostly never wave are riding the expensive customs, choppers, etc. Whatever. 3) When there's lotsa bikes out sometimes I don't wave either. On a fine summer day on certain roads I could be waving every 30 seconds. Get's old. 4) Hardcore Motorcycle Club bikers riding with their group don't wave. It's nothing to do with you, that's just how it is. Deal with it.

I get plenty of waves on Harleys and I ride a ZX-10.

I think it's more the "I'm too cool for you" losers who don't wave, and if they happen to be on Harleys, it's because they bought it for the image and not the bike. Ya know what I mean guy? Harleys have this silly reputation, so some dorks go out and buy them for just that. But really, I know plenty of people who just plain LIKE H-Ds, and they are like any other motorcyclists, so let's not generalize.

So forget the idiots who are trying to pretend to be super cool... there are geeks who ride every brand.
Like, fast 'n' stuff.

I ride a cruiser (not a Harley) and most sport bikes will not wave to me so it works both ways.
When everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

Plus, you can't be sure of why it is that someone doesn't wave. I know I've missed a wave or two because I wasn't paying attention at that very moment. You can't assume that you know for sure what someone else is thinking.

And same here on the waves as a lot of others have said; I get waves most of the time, and the few who haven't waved have been on all different sorts of bikes.

Cheers,
Loonette

I wave at anything on two wheels, hell I've waved at trikes 8)
Some wave back, some don't. I don't take it to heart. I'm having too good of a time riding to let something as silly as that to get me down...

Waves

No problem getting waves out here in Colorado. Esp from Harley riders.

May depend more on the part of the country you live in.

If your on two wheels and have an engine you get a wave out here.
