Am I riding incorrectly? I know I tilt my feet outwards a bit. Also I always cover the rear brake and my foot is always under the shifter.

First off CONGRATULATIONS! Go buy some pucks and stick out your knee! I have only scraped peg once but never my boot. You really dont need to cover your controls because your gonna low side by leaning with your feet in that position and possibly he rear brake. It might be uncomfortable but thats how you sit on a sprotbike. Just keep your toes hanging off not half your foot.
Also Im guessing buy your shoe size you are somewhat tall. I have sat on a ninja 250 and it was WAY to short. It might be time to go bigger. Anyways good job and go scrape those knees!

Thanks for the advice but I'm only 5'8" I just happen to have pretty large feet (Size 11)
Sheeeeeeeyit, if you don't scrape the pegs once in a while you ain't riding.
This from a rider in Illinois, the state with the flattest / straightest roads in the union, except maybe for Kansas, where the motorcyclists have already died from boredom.

Awww, he thinks Illinois is flat and straight! Come on down to Phoenix buddy! My friend down here is from Illinois and says the roads there are less hilly and less straight than the ones here (as in you point your car in the right direction and fall asleep, wake up an hour later and you're across town.) But yeah, can't wait to get back to CO, land of twisty roads and lots of hills!

Wrider,
You need to get out of town more. I recommend the backroad to Prescott (via Yarnell Hill), then over to Jerome. If you do it right, you'll just have stubs for pegs when you're through
I would get out of town more often on two conditions...
1. I had the gas money.
and
2. I had a bike!
Most of my driving consists of my place (the 17 and Glendale) to school (29th Ave and Deer Valley) and back...
