Did a 250 mile ride this Spring with a few rest stops thrown in along the way. That was plenty for me. My bike and butt are not made for long distance cruseing. I would have to get a new, better seat for that.

A typical ride for me starts off at 20 miles to and from work/ school which then usually increases on the trip back on the highway and I usually extend my ride another 50 miles one way and an unknown amount back. Summer time I usually put 300 miles a week.
My first tour was on my Suzuki GZ250 riding from NYC to south end of New Jersey. It taught me the value of a good windshield and bigger engine (60MPH does not cut it on those NJ highways). Then when I got the Vulcan 500 I ended up putting 40,000 miles on her before she got totaled out. Not meant to be a touring bike but the engine was very capable as was the seat, though it got a bit cramped after 100 miles. Not sure if I'll increase those figures with the 900R, I was extremely adventurous with the Vulcan.

Viper I think they will easily increase with the 900R that is a comfortable machine with some nice gettyup when you need it. I like the slightly bent at the knees and slight foward leaning position of the standards/nakeds and streetfighter bikes the best. For me criusers my spine is ramrod straight and gets pounded and forward controls I can't stand up and shake it out. BTW was down your neck a the woods last week did the Dinosaur BBQ on 125? I think it is great BBQ fastest I ever got into the city too we cranked right up to the booth paid over the bridge dropped on to the henry hudson 2 minutes and off right across the street from the cotton club from sussex county to the Dino 50 min that was a record for me.

I did about 750 km this past Saturday. I set out early from Calgary and headed for the Rockies. Ended up going straight through to Golden in British Columbia then down to Radium Hot Springs and Invermere before heading back to Alberta. About 12 hours in all with stops here and there whenever I felt like it. My shoulders got quite tense during the last hour or so. I ride a naked bike so the wind never lets up. It seems to be a workout for the shoulder-neck muscles.
That was a longer ride than usual. I usually do about half that on a typical weekend day trip.

274 km – about 4 hours Calgary to Banff and back, using the long way. This is not counting the time I stay and admire the scenery in Banff

I typically ride out 45 mins to an hour out from the house, grab a coffee and then ride home.
Today I just finished the 4th day of about 400 miles per day and my butt is DONE. I'm chillin' in a BK cuz it's over 40deg with the humidex and I'm giving my butt and the heat a break. Fun times though - and the trip answered my question about whether I could ever make a trek to the west coast or not!
