How long would you consider a typical ride?
When did you go on your first tour? 2 hours plus etc?
Anyone going to be in the Northumberland Area this weekend or next?

Re: How long would you consider a typical ride?
Ask 100 riders that question and you'll get 100 different answers.
My "typical" ride is around 2-5hrs and 150-400km and involves a few stops at favourite hangouts along the way, like the Neustadt Springs Brewery, for example. Not to sample, but to replenish my stock.

It isn't WHAT you ride,
It's THAT you ride

I'd be lucky to fit 2 tall boys in my trunk on Mis DoceGummiente wrote:Ask 100 riders that question and you'll get 100 different answers. My "typical" ride is around 2-5hrs and 150-400km and involves a few stops at favourite hangouts along the way, like the Neustadt Springs Brewery, for example. I'm looking for variety of answers. I don't have any hangouts to go touring too as of yet as my journey just begun. Now if anyone out there has ridden in my neck of the woods (Northumberland County, Durham Region etc) and has suggestions for where bikers usually stop or hangout it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: How long would you consider a typical ride?
I don't have a typical ride. I'm a cable guy, working 4/10's and I drive my work van home, so my work days I rarely ever ride. My g/f now has a bad back, so she can't ride with me, so if we go together, it's in her car. So I'll jump at the chance to run to wal-mart if it's a small trip.
But a few weeks ago I went to San Antonio, then Austin, and back to here (Baton Rouge). That was fun. SA likes to run me over more than either here or Austin. Pretty between SA & Austin. I had a little time crunch, so I had to take interstate to/from BR.

After 10 hours and 350-400 miles of twisties, I'm usually tired and done for the day. Slabbing of course you can do more, except for the boredom....

Daily half hour each way that seems to turn into a couple on one side or the other regularly.
Sunny off days range between 200 and 500 miles depending on who is going with and what I want to go look at/touch.
And typically i try to make a summer journey..doesnt look like it this year.

Usually 2-3 hours, with a lunch stop thrown in for the heck of it. I'd like to do an overnight trip sometime soon, though...not sure how well my tushy will do on that. The seat on my scooter is not exactly comfy...

Agree with that. First tour I every did was 1200 miles in a weekend on the SV, not 3000 miles I know, but it was a tour to meThumper wrote:Usually 2-3 hours, with a lunch stop thrown in for the heck of it.

Thumper??? wow! you have the Piaggio MP3??? I would die to ride that! How do you like it? Do the Harley guys make fun of it? I wish there was a scooter riders club in my area with Yamaha TMAx, Suzuki Burgman's and MP3's and we can ride around trade each other scooters and have fun and maybe stop at some roadside bars and kick over the HD's parked outside, that would be fun!
