yea the vid is nice if you want to dabble a lil...

i cant even pull a wheelie on mine, well i guess i could if i pulled up in acceleration but that would be scary.... my bike is lowered like an inch so its hard to get it up

Let me just step forward and say that I posted the most direct and insulting post. You will get no apologies from me. Lets examine his post:

"does anyone on these forums do or can do all those crazy stunts on a street bike? i was thinkin about tryin some this year on my dirtbike to get ahead of the compitition. good idea? bad idea? it looks pretty cool. can u make alot of money of of that? like enough so u dont need another job?"

After a brief examination I came to two conclusions:

1.) He is a young kid.
2.) He is misguided.

I assumed he watched a movie like "Biker Boyz" or some internet videos showing the end result of successful super cool stunts. I dont know where he got the idea that stunting street bikes is a cash cow????? Anyway, I gave my uncensored opinion. Possibly I should replace the words idiot and stupid with more friendly words or just <self censored>.

At the same time, Im not a safety party. I just think that the entire motorcycle community is made to look bad by street bike stunters. Instead of focusing the rest of the public on <self censored> stunters and the wrecks that invariably occur, we need to present a positive image to the public. We need to focus on telling the public to look hard before making a left turn, not on showing them on the evening news the aftermath of <self censored> behavior.

I dont mind the occasional wheelie, but I think people who seriously stunt on the street are <self censored>. If people want to stunt on private property, fine. I still think they are <self censored>.


As for the kid leaving the boards, who cares. If you cant take some criticism, whether justified or not, your going to have a long, frustrating life. In other words, he took his toys and went home.

Stunts are so fun to watch and cool.. But im not cool enough and i guess i havn't found the right set of balls on ebay yet to go and attempt my self..

Chances of me pullin a wheelie are SLIM to NONE..

i wanna learn how to wheelie. that's about the only stunt im interested.

it's also bec since my bike is prone to it.

it's better to learn how to wheelie so if i do end up doing a wheelie, i won't panic since i'll know what to do to keep the bike stable and bring the front wheel back down correctly.

and i agree... doing stunts on public roads is not a good idea.

i think bike stunting rocks...anything that draws attention to motorcycleing im down with...but keep it in lots and blocked off streets...every area has a local stunt team somewhere...if you really want to learn check them out...ask them...or someone on a stunting forum...NOW...as far as pink fur and and mohawks on your helmets...i think thats silly...and what the heck is a loop the loop?

Hey swatter555.... where did he mention doing stunts on the street? Maybe when he mentioned competing he actually meant COMPETITION that is done in a "safe" environment...

Unfortunately, the attention that stunting "draws to motorcycling" is almost always negative.

Stunting on public roads is dangerous to non-participants and leads to a strong negative stereotype in the minds of the general public towards anyone who rides a sport bike. That could mean anything. Because something might be a competition doesnt mean its not on a public street or just plain illegal. You are assuming he meant private competitions on private property, he made no such assertion. Im not going to parse this kids <self censored> post anymore, this thread is getting silly.

And for the record, I THINK stunting competitions in any form are <self censored> and <self censored>.

Also, please stop typing in caps, I can read your posts in normal caps just as well.

Late entry into this little debate here.

The overwehelming majority of posters here think that stuntng on public roads is not a good idea. I agree. Even popping the occasional wheelie can be fatal - two young bikers bought it here, in a neighbouring town just a year ago when their street wheelies went out of control. I think someone else was injured as well. But as earwig keeps pointing out this guy didn't say anthing about public roads at all.

A lot of people think that doing stunts anywhere is stupid and idiotic. Well, those are personal opinions and that's fair enough. Buuuuuuut, if some guy comes onto the site and wants to do this stuff it strikes me that we shouldn't really be discouraging them and we shouldn't be calling them names. What we should be doing is pointing out the dangers and the risks involved, just in case swatter is right and it is some addle-brained kid who has seen too many films, has a headful of fantasies and a body full of hormones.

Having said that, I don't want to take the risk out of life. If I did, I wouldn't be riding a bike. There are all types and conditions of people and they live their lives according to different values and principles. We all assess the risk-kick equation differently. If someone understands the risks and wants to do highly dangerous sports, then I have no issue with that. In fact, I applaud it. I wish I had the balls to do some of the things I see. The bottom line is that we should take care of the interests of others.

Name calling just gets me pissed off. It doesn't do any good in any circumstances. Even, if you are right swatter, and this was some confused kid, implying he was stupid and idiotic had the useful effect of just driving him off the boards. What has that achieved?
