Still both missing the point... Oh well...

Is anyone interested in learning about linux? I'd be more than happy to help you try!

Which point am I missing?

I'm quite confident that there isn't a whole lot you could teach me about any OS.

Its copy past time
MrShake wrote: What it really boils down to, is that both you and Jonnythan made comments similar to "Linux is Terrible" or "You can't use linux without the cli" These statements only serve the purpose of convincing someone else to NOT try.

What purpose could it POSSIBLY serve to convince someone to not put a LiveCD in their machine and rebooting? What purpose could it POSSIBLY serve to make statements that would scare someone on the fence? I see no purpose. You guys are STILL missing my point and arguing semantics. The only purpose any of your comments serves is to try to prove to me or the world that Linux is inferior or shouldn't be used by Joe Blow user. My point is that Linux is ready, but not always the right choice, and I would say the same for Windows, its ready, but not always the right choice. Why is that a hard thing to say "I agree" to? Or, at a minimum, say "While I believe windows to be a better option, try linux for yourself?" Whats the real problem here boys?
Maybe I need to simplify it!

Point:

You are, weither intended or not, actively dissuading people from trying linux, and that does NO ONE any good, nor does it serve any usefull purpose. I am activly encouraging people to try linux.

you know the expression agree to disagree?

It applies here.

At least I started a new thread that people can ignore, I tried.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I never said that.

I have no interest in encouraging or discouraging the spread of Linux on the desktop. I don't care one way or the other.

My intent is to "do good" by encouraging people to make choices that are most appropriate for them. That's my only interest here.

At least you stated that your goal is to encourage the spread of Linux, not to encourage people to make the best choices for themselves. Now we all know.

I just figured it out.. You don't READ what I say, you READ INTO what I say. You put words in my mouth.... Lets use the cool quote feature again, please try to read what I say and don't add any of your own.

Nope, not the "spread" of linux, but, the awareness of linux and the option to try its. Don't oppress, offer options. I have said, in most every post that windows is right in some situations and linux is right in some situations. I can't be more clear.
Edit: Both are right in most situations, IMHO. Right Tool, Right Time

Now, lets find out what Jonnythan acutally said:
jonnythan wrote:
BUT! Linux is TERRIBLE for tyhpical computer users who take care of their own machines and don't want to spend hours on forums asking for help and hoping someone understands their problem.
Direct quote sir... Direct quote.

No one is harmed by trying a FREE TO USE product.

"Linux is terrible for certain people" is not the same thing as "Linux is terrible" and you damn well know it.

You're right. I will click the "quit watching this thread" and then I won't get any more notifications.

Carry on.

this ENTIRE discussion has been about the typical computer user.

I find the thread title offensive: what about those of us who use QNX?
