There is also the alternative assuming you have clear lane in front of you of dropping down a gear or two and making that cage a small dot in your mirror (if you have a bike powerful enough to do that).
The Hemi driver might think his Hemi was defective and complain to the dealer that his car was broken if a bike pulled away from him that fast.
Of course if your stuck with traffic in front of you then you may just have to throw a Wobbly at him if he gets too close.

That is my usual proceedure, but this guy just wanted to be pushy. His gas guzzlling Hemi would have been no match for a bike.... He looked right at me and the look on his face said "move it"- so I didn't.

Today I saw a fellow sitting on his big blue and white Suzuki Sport Bike waiting to get out into traffic. He had his full face helmet perched atop his head so he could smoke.
The chin part of the helmet was on his forehead and the chin strap was not buckled. And a fresh smoke dangling in his lips.
The road he was waiting to get onto was a very busy street.
So, now who's the idiot. If he suddenly loses control his helmet will not protect him...and...if his helmet flies off his head it can cause someone else to lose control.

That's just stupid Blues, it is exactly this guy who gives the rest of us a bad name. Totally irresponsible. I also know a guy who has forsaken a full face helmet for one that has a flip up face sheild, also so he can smoke on the bike. I am a smoker but for some strange unfathomable reason I forget all about it while I am riding. Maybe my addiction to my bike is stronger than the nicotine.

Its illegal to not have your helmet fastened when your on the bike over here.
That said you quite often see young moped riders perching their helmet on top of their head when they are going in to pay for fule, shops etc. Everytime I see it I wince twice, once because theres a good chace they will drop their helmet and once because they look like <edit> very silly boys...
I have a flip face lid, means I dont have to take it off for shops and fuel etc but I dont smoke while wearing it - cigarette smoke goes upwards and I kind of like my visor.
