Today was a really good day in the Karma world...
I earned $100 in the morning, selling my old mx boots. Then, it was 14C or so outside, and I went to check out an '89GSXR750... across town in the awesome weather. It was really interesting to find that all my excitement in seeing the bike had worn off once I really took a good look at it... and sort of thought about riding and other things... put lots into perspective... didn't buy the bike. THEN about 2km on the home trip, a broken spoke on my bicycle punctured my rear tire... poofff...fizzzzzz... (laugh)... but that didnt affect me much... i even kept rode on the rim for abit, then decided I should walk... i figured everything would work out. (the bicycle only cost me $20, so you can see why i wouldnt care too much about riding on the rim)
I just walked to the nearest 7-11, grabbed a slurpee and cheezies (yummyy) and asked directions to the nearest bike shop... then i didnt follow those directions (giggle) because something was pulling me in another direction... and i ended up finding a bunch of neat things i had been in need of, at bargain prices, including a SUPER RARE CABLE for my digital camera, which the manufacturers wanted $40 for!!! - i got it for next to nothing.
That alone was an AMAZING stroke of luck, but just the start. I found a bargain phone for one of my room-mate's who has been complaining that our main phone is always out of batteries (because my other room-mate is always ON THE PHONE -- snicker)... i loaded up all this stuff (great deals on jeans, shirts etc! (what the heck was i doing buying all this stuff???) onto my backpack + carried one big bag (woah! overloaded! and still have a flat tire... still walking walking walking...) and asked directions again to "the nearest bikeshop" -- these directions I didn't follow either, BUT, i ended up at ANOTHER bike shop off the beaten path
a real nice place... and the boys there sold me a tube, installed for $12.50, a bargain, and tossed out the broken spoke (the rim of course is hooped big time). When they pulled the rear wheel off, i was finally able to toss away the kickstand, which is just a heavy piece of dead weight
which i was too lazy to remove. hurray...
Before leaving the bike shop, the guys showed me a nice deal on a used bike. "Lady ridden" -- snicker/chuckle... THAT's what he said! And i believe him, because it was in pretty good shape, but not the sort of bike most people would really want I guess. But just my price... so i am going back on the weekend to pick it up, so my $20 wonderbike which has lasted almost a year, can be put into backup service.
Now, how was i going to ride home with a fullllll backpack and the second shopping bag of goodies????
Then i remembered that in the bottom of my backpack was the uber-cool, uber-savior BUNGEE NET... and voila with bungee net to attach the rest of the stuff (including clothes, phone, books, etc) to my backpack I was off and running. whew! serendipidty.
So the last 10km home was a great ride (with extra training weight attached) in beautiful sunny weather. all smiles and still had $25 left from the morning $100 boot sale
all in all a good day.

HEY, i see you have a Radian... hmmm... that is maybe a good idea for a street bike for me... i think the Radian's are a perfect low-key standard street machine. i should pickup the Bargain Finder and start lookingSkier wrote:I'm unhappy today because the past week has been windy, rainy, hailing and snowy, and today, when I have my bike's seat modified to be more comfortable, it's 50 degrees, sunny and calm.

thanks for the tip UNhappy guy!

Today, it stopped.
I;ve just had three days in bed with a very dramatically-inclined stomach bug, and today it stopped - no more details for everyone's sake.
Yes, when it stopped it made me very, very happy.

What are jaffa cakes?
BTW - Nothing made me happy today. Literally at the last minute the seller of the bike I was/am going to buy came up short some paperwork. My weekend is ruined.
I've eaten all the leftovers and salad in the house, so maybe I should find a jaffa cake, whatever that is...... (hopefully as good as the cranberry scones I had in Ireland back in 2001.)
