"THE RIGHT OF WAY"
Just because you have it, doesn't mean you should take it. Walking, riding a bike, driving a car, riding a motorcycle, it's all the same. A pedestrian always has the right of way, but do you step out in front of speeding cars very often just because you're legally in the right??? Sure the law says that the guy on the right has the "right of way", but if there is someone on my left in the intersection, even if they're stopped, I'm going to forfit my right of way pretty quick. I don't trust anyone that is putting their vehicle in my way. People around here call that "Defensive Driving"...

Pittsburg local TV video clips, @ scene news reports, PA Govener on helmet laws in the state, witness accounts, update on Big ben's condition, did he have a license or didn't he etc etc etc....as of this post but clips probably rotate on a daily basis.

We choose to ride, there are inherent risks, we each make choices on what steps we take to mitigate the risks and he made his. I hope he is able and chooses to ride again and if he does I wonder if he will take a different approach to protective gear based on this tough lesson ....he is fortunate not everyone gets a second chance to rethink their strategy.

I don't get the logic behind that doctor saying a helmet wouldn't have neccessarily helped Ben. All of the damage that Ben had were in areas a helmet would have taken the brunt of. Saying the helmet could have caused more neck injury because of the additional weight. But then again the doc specializes in facial restructures, it would be a wetdream for him if no one wore helmets.

What crazy donkey doctor said that? Perhaps he was thinking of a half/helmet, which probably wouldn't have helped since he took a major blow to the jaw. A full-face damn sure would have helped... and I don't think you need medical degree to know that.

It's Video 6/13 on the very bottom left, it's called experts opinion on helmets. He says if you go through a windshield with a helmet you're going to have alot more head and neck trauma because of the additional weight. However if you go through a windshield without a helmet, you'll be dead so you don't have to worry about head/neck trauma.

That's completely asinine. What the hell does an extra pound or two mean when your face is going through a windshield? Does not compute.

My MSF instructors went on and on about the RIGHT OF WEIGHT which is to say, "They weigh more, and will get hurt LESS when they hit you, let them go first.

Being within your rights doesn't make you any less dead when a Hummer finishes driving over you.

I'm sure he thought that because he walks on water in Steeler country, he didn't really need to renew the liscence...

Or some excuse about being too busy to get it after the superbowl
