it would be very dangerous for my bike to run very high rpms on public roads.

anyway, once i have trackdays i'll be able to push my bike more.

So, rather then ride at high RPM, you're just going to make the low RPM faster... accomplishing the same thing.

HAH

Thanks, you just made my weekend.

Oh, and if you have good "throttle control," then riding at higher RPM in low gears is just safe as riding at low RPM in high gears, in fact it'll give you improved engine breaking, make your exhaust a little louder (easier to hear), and increased throttle response. Especially on a bike like yours.

I never said you crashed due to a loss of throttle control. That fact of the matter is you crashed PERIOD! And instead of backing off of what is obviously the limit of your skills, you change the shift pattern so you can lean over even further and then want to do mods that will give the bike more torque (another low side looking for a place to happen).

I think everyone here has been as diplomatic as possible with you, Verm. But you're obviously one of these guys who insists on having the absolute best of everything.....the best swords, the best guns, the best bike, the best riding leathers, and on and on and on. But buying the best gun won't earn you a place on the SWAT team, and buying the best liter bike doesn't mean it will make up for your obvious lack of natural talent, skill, or common sense. A whole lotta people like you here, Vermi. Don't go effin' up everyone's summer by ending up on the news.

That's easy...just step off of it.

sorry to interupt everyones e-fight. but im curious about the cruising above 9k i would think cruising that high all the time would be bad, i have an 01 cbr600f4i and i barely ever go above 8k and when i cruise its in 6th usually at about 5-6 k doing ruffly 60ish so is this ok? or should i be down shifting to 5th to bring my rpms up?

i figure lower rpms saves gas for one (which is a small reason i got the bike) and lower rpms just puts less wear and tear on the bike please correct if im wrong thanks

commence e-fighting

You're commuting, and Vermi is trying to get everyone's insurance rates to go up. Big difference.

Carry on.

Yes, it's perfectly fine. Just try not to lug the engine, which can be hard on it. But if you're just cruising along on the way to work, running along at 5k is fine.

Yup, he's trying for high performance, which requires either a TON of cash, or using the upper RPM's on his bike.

I usually cruise at 5-6k, but enjoy clipping about above 9 or so on occasion, especially in heavy traffic, makes me more noticable, and imporves my engine braking.

I wouldn't worry about it at all.

i can do that but like said earlier, it would be too noisy and will attract too much attn from cops so i'd rather ride at lower rpm, higher gear, same speed, and less noise.

and 1st gear at 9K for me is already around 65mph, not good on the streets.

again, guys... im not gonna hit the canyons when i get the TRE installed, which BTW is already here. i'd install it myself, but i wanna show it to my mechanic 1st.

i'll be taking it easy for a while and ride the bike like it's my 1st time again.
