6 Speed Trans. for 07 Softail?

#1 Unread post by mastergun »

Has anyone else heard the rumor that Harley is putting the 6 speed transmission and a wider rear tire on the 2007 Softails? :smoke:

It's not a rumor. It already happened this year.

Zoo ... That article is about the Dyna family, not Softails. I know about the Dyna's getting the 6 speed transmissions this year. Was just curious if it was going to carry over to other HD families. I'm going to get a 2007 Heritage Classic as soon as they're released.

My bad, Dude. Although the article says the Softails are getting the 200-series rear tire you asked about (page 3).

why not put the 6 speed on all their bikes. All the 88ci harleys use the same damn transmission anyway.

I believe that all the softtails got the 200mm rear tire for 06. And I think that 07 we will see another HD patform get the six speed tranny...if not all of them. But did you notice that in the Dyna family they all got the six speed...and all come standard efi?

Only the internals are the same; the casings and mounting points are different. You seem to have collected an awful lot of mis-information about Harleys (having read several of your comments about them in other threads), where are you getting it from?

most of my info on harleys has come from harley owners (admittedly some of them dont know jack about their bikes).

same deal with the counterbalancer, most people dont know which bikes have em and which dont. Easy to tell when the bike is running, the counterbalanced ones dont shake much. IIRC the softtail and electra glide series have em, not sure about the dyna, and the road king does not.

Obviously. :D

Only the Softail series has the TC88B (counterbalanced) motor. Everything else has the TC88A (rubber mount), except for the Sportster which has its own rubber mount system and motor. The Dyna series just went to a new rubber mount system, new FI system and a new 6-speed trans, these bits will probably show up on the rest of the lineup within a couple years.

The Standard, Springer, and Night Train got the 200mm, the Fatboy, both Heritages, Deuce, Springer Classic and the Deluxe didn't.
