I have been wanting a motorcycle for several years now. It has been a downhill battle with my wife. However, with the increased gas prices, I am starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel.
I could use all your help to find the right bike for my needs. To satisfy my wife, I would need a bike that is not too powerfull and is good on gas. She is afraid that I will go too fast. So she has been talking about scooters and mopeds. That would be fine with me except I don't like how most of them look. I like sportbikes that look like the ninja. Does anyone know of any small cc, moped, or scooter that would resemble a sportbike? Also, were might I find such a bike?
I don't want to go too low on the power because I do live in a mountain area.
Please help.

Maybe you can satisify your wife's apprehension by proving to her that you intend to be the SAFEST rider that you can be. A good mileage, small cc bike can still go VERY fast.
No matter what you ride, if you tangle with a car, you will be on the loosing end. Just because it's a small bike dosen't mean that you are safer just because you can't hit 110 mph in 3rd gear.
Your skill and awareness is what will give you the best chance of not becoming a statistic, not the cc of your bike. Take an MSF course, read books and magazines, peruse this website...YOU are what will keep you as safe as possible, not your bike.

Courage is embracing your fear and seeking its point of origin...but stupid is just plain stupid.
