Bad customer service...

#1 Unread post by skinnyjoint »

ok so im pretty upset right now. heres the story. i just bought a 01 cbr600f4i, its all black and was layed down once by previous owner so frame sliders are chewed up and a couple scratches on the front (fender i guess or ya know right around the headlight area)

newayz i picked up this bike for 3200 with a helmet, it just has a valve adjustment done, its got an exhuast, bigger sprocket, and its lowered an inch. but it needed new tires. so i go in and drop it off yesterday and i bought some gloves while i was there, (alpine carbon somthing or another they were like 50 bux) well as i go to pay today and he hands me the key he says
"the beat up black one right"...... i was like wow... and kinda just walked out. i mean wtf. the fairings arnt even on (just ordered a new bolt kit) and theres a couple scratches thats it.

newayz who the "fudge" cares if its beat up or not i just dropped 400 bux at there place he could have been like "the black one right?" and that would have been fine.

im 21 yrs old this is my first bike, i didnt need to go buy somthing fancy right now im trying to learn. errrrrr "fudge" him man...

anyways i love the new tires :) michelin power pilot

Remember to take it easy on the new rubber for 100 miles or so.

Skinny-

There are good shops and there are bad shops. When I went to get new rubber on my 82 XZ 550 the guys at this big dealership called it a pile and told me to scrap it. (they weren't fond of my taking the tires off in their parking lot to have them change them out instead of my paying an extra $25 a wheel either).

I tend to go to smaller shops now. You can get to know the mechanics, they'll do small things for free. Yep, free. And when you bring in your bike they treat it likes it's a brand new ducati. None of teh guys at the place I go to in Charlottesville had ever seen my bike's model before the xz 550. They drilled out some bad screws for me and replaced them (which is why I dropped it off) but then then gave me steel braided brakes lines, a new master cylinder and they synced my carbs for free. All I had to do was let the mechanic and one of the owners ride it around the block to see how it handled.

Find yourself a good shop, enjoy the bike and let us know how the rides are coming.

The thing about keeping it easy for your first hundred miles is that there are chemicals on the tires from manufacturing that are a bit slippery, they wear off by then supposedly

It seems strange to me but, hey, what do I know. Most of the steelerships in Cincinnati are either Harley or some combonation of the big 4 manufactures. E.g. A Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki joint, or Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki. I think there might be one that is Honda only.

The mechanic calling your bike a pile bothers you? Who gives a crap what he thinks? You call a 01 f4i a beater? Maybe you are more concerned with looks than with riding, never thought of any cbr 600 engines toned down or not as good learners. What you can do is learn to do your own work on your bike and save your money. I like when I use my true beater which is a 80s bike and leave all kind of squids on sportbikes in the dust. They say what is bike is that, I respond a beater. Freaking fair weather riders (modelers and posers). Once the bike runs well who gives a crap. You may be too sensitive
just take your money somewhere else.

Its common for dealers not to work on certain type bikes, first off motorcycle mechanics blow most of the time, secondly they didn't make money off you so they don't care. Its not unusual to see dealers for the same brand not want to service your bike because you didn't buy it from them. Then again I don't have that problem because I wrench my own bike.

Another reason to get an old beater is it is easier to fix (most of the times) and you can learn to wrench on something that wont make you to mad if its down.

Wrenching any bike with fairings sucks but wrenching most modern day inline fours ugh.

maybe you should have returned your high priced gloves too just to make a statement. Cheaper online anyways.

Gonna agree with storysunfolding here, Definately go with the smaller independant shops, after they get to know you, they will bend over backwards usually. with a dealership, your usually just another number.
