First time out today... Possible issue

So just registered her yesterday so today was my 1st day out... I had a blast, and the shifting came back after a few stalls this morning.... Well here is the question.. There seems to be some blue oily substance coming up from the front right fork.... It appears to be coming up from the suspension... Is this normal? I bought the bike from an elderly fellow who purchased it in 02 with 13,200 and sold it to me last weekend with 13,449. This bike hasnt really been ridden more then a couple of miles a year since 02... Should I be worried? Thanks in advance..

I'd say leaking anything is bad, always a good idea to take it into a mechanic.

your fork seals need replacing

Yep, it sounds like a leaking fork seal. If you don't have a service manual and the tools, best to have a shop or mechanic change it.

And, just because it is one thing that really floats my valves...... when asking a mechanical type question about your bike(or any other mechanical device for that matter), please let folks know exactly what machine it is. Hard to give opinions without knowing what the vehicle in question is, ya know?

Good bike choice!

I agree with the others that you've got a bad fork seal. The probable cause is in your original post. The bike has only gone a couple of miles since '02. If not excercised, these seals tend to dry up and lose their flexibility. I suggest you get them both replaced at the same time. It's cheaper to do both at once (less disassembly) and the other seal is probably close to going out too.

Any ideas on how much this will cost??? Im kinda peeved cause I tried to save some money by getting a cheaper bike to learn on cause I haven't been on a bike in almost 10 years... I could of got an 03 for 900 bucks more...

Fork seals dont cost much on their own, but the shop rate will.

The shop I use wanted 300 bucks jhust to install them, Id recommend finding a smaller private shop and getting aflat rate.
