Good OTD Price for new 2006 R6?

#1 Unread post by dtrujillo63 »

Hello All,

I went to the dealership today and started getting some prices. They were trying to sell me a used 2003 R6 with 6k miles on it for $8000 OTD. Is that a bad deal? Anyways, What is a good out the door price for a new 2006 R6 here in California. How much should I be looking to pay for a new one?

If I do go for the used one, how much should I offer?

Thanks,
Denny

A 2003 R6 with 6k miles? Unless there are some serious mods, that sounds real high.

A 2006 R6S has an MSRP of 8200. You should be able to get the price of a new bike along with frieght and assembly for around or less than MSRP, depending on demand.

You should have been the one to google what the MSRP of the R6 is, not some stranger on a message board. You need to arm yourself with the basic facts or your going to get ripped a new one.

I take it this won't be your first bike...

If so I highly recommend finding a different bike to learn on. The R6 simply has way too much power for any new rider to safely learn on.

Well, pretty close. You've had that Ninja 250 for about 2 months now?

If you're considering used, start checking the asking prices on craigslist and cycle trader online. That'll give you an idea of what the used versions are going for in your area. You can expect to pay a bit more if buying from a dealer, but those two sources will at least get you thinking in the right ballpark.

If you can't get an OTD price equal to what the sticker price is, I'd go for it. Of course, try and fight them a little more or try to get a break on the financing rate or something but...I'd be happy with that.
