Brake Squeak

#1 Unread post by RegalSwan »

I just put some brand new Vesrah brakes on my Maxim and they are squeaking when applied at anything but full force. I saw a thread about this in the forums but didn't know if everything was answered. Is roughing up the brakes really the best answer? Will this noise stop eventually? Should i be looking at the back of the pads that don't contact the rotor? Basically, I just want to make it so I can pull up next to someone with an open window and not get the stink eye.... :biker: :mad2:

You can only go through so many pairs of Redwings in your life...id rather keep my first pair for awhile longer. Although this could be a new way to be noticed on a bike...yea...i think i am on to something..."safety brakes"....

Make sure they are installed correctly. The biggest cause of brake squeak is brake dust. Get some brake cleaner and clean the pads and wipe down the rotors. Or you can do just one good hard stop, that usually solves it too.
CHECK YOUR TIRE PRESSURE REGULARLY!!!
