free custom rear sets for your help

#1 Unread post by the smoother »

I own a machine shop and recently acquired a cnc milling unit. I’m cutting custom rear sets. Instead of buying every year/make/model foot controls for a fitment pattern I thought there might be some fellow riders willing to help me. For your help and feedback you’ll get some cool sets of your own. All sets are milled out of aircraft quality billet aluminum. Here is an example of one of the styles I’ll be producing. I will also be anodizing them clear, purple, gold and black. For you racers you can choose to have the pegs moved up and back for more clearance.

So here is the deal’eo, I need the dimensions of your right and left foot control base. Remove the pegs and shifters I need the base plate that bolts directly to the frame. I need digital pics on grid paper or some other way for me to accurately tell the spacing and dept of the bolt holes and overall size. The ultimate would to ship me the actual bracket but I understand the trust issue on that. If for some reason you have a spare one and don’t mind me keeping it for a week that would insure the best possible fitment your IN!
Looking for 1992+ sport bikes, or Harley’s with flat base on the foot controls.

Obviously I can only work with only so many people so it’s a 1st come sort of thing but I’ll be more apt to work with riders that put the most effort into providing me with accurate dimensions.
Looking forward to hearing from you

I took my bike to every custom bike shop in town and nobody wants my business just because its a cheap japanese bike. What I needed done was moving the foot pegs back 2 inches, and handlebar risers made, or a custom set of handlebars, no custom bike shop, or no dealer can help me. I can't understand why nobody wants my business? Is it a liability problem? Are they afraid if I wreck the bike and sue them saying the modifacations they made caused me to wreck?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA at Motof150

As for the rearsets, I'll start looking into getting some of that stuff together, though I don't totally like the idea of taking apart my bike when I could be riding it.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

I moved this to the "everything else" section of maintenance. Since your offer is "free" I can't really consider this spam. Since it deals with bike work though, it might get more attention here. Good luck with your new equipment!

Cheers,

Give yer head a shake, Skooter.

You want a set of rearsets without the passenger mounts, right? Here's a guy who wants to make 'em for the cost of a few pics from you....... anodized and everything. It don't take that long to remove your pegs and mounts, strip 'em and snap some pics.

Smoother..... I got a set of '89 GSXR rearsets that I can send you, if your interested. The Slingshot chassis is pretty popular for a streetfighter base, with interchangeablity across 4-5 years.
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

Notice the part where I ask how to contact him? Soon as I get someplace to send pics etc too I'll be pulling my bike apart :P
