Jacket shopping

Jeez, it sure is hard to find sport riding leather jackets that are black.

All the high end models from Alpinestars and Joe Rocket seem to have lots of dorky colors rather than one good monochrome scheme.

Anyone know a brand that makes quality stuff but uses a modicum of good taste in the styling?

You should be able to order something in solid black, ask to see the catalogs at the dealership/where ever you have been shopping.

I just got a jacket from dragginjeans.com. I went with one with a yellow stripe, but they have different ones that are all black. The quality is really good and it fits perfect, maybe check them out.

The reason most are not just plain black is because of saftey issues. Obviously safer in the day than in the night, a pure black jacket looks stylish but is deffinatly tough to see somtimes. I'm sure you could get one but I would advise againced it and maybe get some white in those colors. Maybe some reflective meterial... 8)

Alpinestars make a lot of jackets that are mostly black.

I would advise getting whatever colour jacket you like. In my experience colour schemes don't make a lick of difference.

Yup. As far as most cagers go... you could paint your bike school bus yellow, coat yourself in safety orange, stand on your seat while holding and waving flares and set yourself on fire

And the sheeple STILL wouldn't see you. Trust me on this one.

I've got an all black Joe Rocket mesh jacket and an all black Fieldsheer leather jacket. Black jackets are plentiful... I've noticed that most black jackets tend to be leather. Leather works better than textile (unless it's cheap JC Penny's leather)... leather can be worn when you're not riding.

I have a decent black leather motorcycle jacket at Kohl's, on sale for $120.

I'll second skier on vanson leathers. I bought a vanson leathers ventilator jacket which is shown here: http://www.vansonleathers.com/product_p ... ilator.htm

They have one that is all black. I have the all-black model with the shoulder reflective vanson patches being the only thing that contrasts with the jacket. Vanson isn't cheap though, but I believe they're going for $199 now and its best to order over the phone in my experience.

I haven't been looking since Feb when I got a new jacket but you should check this out: www.ridegear.com

If you want all black and sporty I might suggest getting an armband or the like that reflects when there is not enough lighting. The ones I have came from Aerostitch and push a switch and it glows a bright red. Just a suggestion though.
