Joe Rocket vs alpinestars

#1 Unread post by sleepercivic88 »

It seems its the two brands that the stores around here carry. Which brand is better. Im planning on getting a leather jacket but I cant choose what brand. I want to buy at the store vs the internet because I want to get something that fits perfect and I think its worth the 10$ saved knowing that it is comfortable.

Whats your prefrence and why.

both make good products, find what fits and is comfortable and suits your preference. If you find one from each that is perfect for you, compare prices to help your decision, if that doesnt help, choose the better looking one. Hard to pick one brand over the other though as both make good products, simply because i like their styles and own one i biasedly would pick Alpine-stars, but dont pick simply because of brand, pick the one thats right for you.

Watch the MotoGP, World Superbikes etc and count the number of riders wearing Joe Rocket gear.

Enough said.

Booooo! Well...yeah. JR is getting better but I'd still give my vote hands down to Alpinestars. They make outstanding products. The only thing you'll have to watch for is that they fit much more tightly than the JR products in general, so if you've got a bit of a belly or larger biceps, etc, it might be too tight for ya.

I am quite jealous though. NONE of the stored around here carry Alpinestars!
2000 Kawasaki Ninja EX500R (Sold)
2006 Suzuki SV650S (Stolen 4/08, recovered 12/08, sold 3/09)
2004 Suzuki SV650S (Sold)

Being bikeless SUCKS!!!

Im skinny. Im 6ft and 165lbs of lean muscle. my chest is 39 and my waist is 32. (if i remember right) So alpinestars will fit me better. you want the tightest comfortable fit possible for abrasion resistance.

both are fine. looking at what professional riders wear is not a great idea. they dont pay for a bit of that gear, rather they get paid to be seen in it. i agree with the above comment about seeing what fits the best /what looks the best/ priced the best.

good luck.

You can always just try it on at the store, and then buy it on the internet. The savings, if you do some searching, will oft times be quite significant, much more than a measly $10 dollars. For example; I found an Alpinestars TZ-1 leather jacket at a well known retail store for $350, that same jacket I found for $288 from an online retailer. That kind of savings is something to write home about.

Good way to make sure retailers won't carry stock.

They don't have stock anyway.

I've been willing to buy from local retailers but have yet to be able to. Well, I bought a pair of gloves locally but that's pretty trivial.

They have floor samples without actually having the product (helmet), they have the product but not the color (jacket), they have one size of each product (pants) so you can find the size but not the style, or the style but not the size. They have accessories for every model except the one I own.

The local stores look like they have a good selection, but it actually sucks. Trying to get what you want (rather than "the best of whatever they have") is an exercise in frustration. Store hopping will waste more gas money than buying online and returning what doesn't fit.
Ride it like you think owning it matters.

That explains why they do wear Alpinestars, however it does not explain why they do not wear Joe Rocket.
I see ads everywhere for JR stuff but hardly ever for Alpinestars so they obviously have a decent advertising budget. Perhaps the professional riders can't get paid enough to wear their gear.
