Hypothetical Question about Bike $$$

  • Quote

#1 Post by BigChickenStrips » Wed May 31, 2006 8:22 am

ok so everyone loves hypothetical questions-

if you had X amount of money, you had to buy motorcycle, or motorcycle acessories. (you cant add your own money, you only get to spend the amount posted so you cant take $100 and buy a $150 item)

if you had $100 what would you buy?

if you had $500 what would you buy?

$1000

$5000?

$25,000

$100,000?

I'll go first-

$100- a mesh riding jacket (on clearance from newenough.com)
$500- a new helmet and some riding pants
$1000- both above and insurance and gas for a year
$5000- all new gear- helmet, leathers, jacket(s), pants, rain protection, some hard luggage, a new seat, gloves, boots, and any money left would be put toward gas/oil/maintance costs.
$25,000- probable a ducatti or triumph sport bike and matching leathers/ some other upgrade goodies like seats and lights, and maybe a dirt bike as well. +insurance and maintanance
$100,000- id buy all the gear listed above to match my new bikes-
a Gixxer 600 (twisty bike)
a Ducati monster 900 (around town bike)
a ducati 999R (track bike)
a kawi mean streak (cruiser bike)
probably a haybusa just to say i have one. (with lots of aftermarket bling)
a top-o-the-line vespa for the lady friend to ride (awww... how sweet)
and a triumph scrambler (just look damn cool)
and some type of dual sport to take off road (gotta get some dirt action in)
the rest goes to insure all the new toys.
almost forgot, a BMW sport tourer the 1200 somethign or other...

how abotu you?

Always assuming that the previous amount has already been spent...

$100 Front sprocket and headlight modulator
$500 Stiffer fork springs, cartridge emulators, and custom Rear Shock
$1000 Jumpsuit style riding suit and saddle bags|trunk.
$5000 road trip!
$10000 (25K is too much), v-strom 650 w/ accessories
$100,000 Airplane to carry the motorcycles around in. ;)

I'm a simple man with simple tastes. ;)
Ride it like you think owning it matters.

$100 - Sliders jeans for weekends.
$500 - Save it
$1000 - Put it on student loans
$5000? - Put it on student loans
$25,000 - Put it on student loans
$100,000? - Finally pay off student loans and sell all my other bikes and get me a Busa set up for touring, just so I can show all the squids that you don't have to be a squid on a squid bike. Mod the busa so it has a better riding position and seat etc. Get a ninja 250 or some small bike + gear so I can convince other friends to ride by teaching them in a parking lot before they sign up for the MSF.

A dog had his chain reduced one link at a time, every few days, until his chain was so short he could barely move. He never resisted because he was conditioned to the loss of his freedom slowly, over time. Are we in this country becoming like the dog?
