Scottoiler woes

#1 Unread post by Tarzan »

Hi All,

I purchased a touring high capacity reservoir (HCR) for my scottoiler and I've been having a few problems.
Initially it was all working fine and the HCR was refilling the little RMV which drips the oil onto the chain.
Now though the HCR has stopped refilling the RMV and I have to top up the RMV directly. This is not the end of the world but means I have to fill up more often than I want to and also means I've got a couple of hundred ml of oil stuck in the HCR.
I've had a good check over both units and the connecting tubes and can't see anything wrong anywhere.
Does anyone have any ideas on what might be wrong and what I can do to solve this?
Thank you.

Is it possible there is a vacuum lock? (IE a vent hole clogged) I've never used a scottoiler, so this is just a guess.

Just a quick update on the off chance that anyone else gets the same problem.
I couldn't see any problems with vent holes being blocked but it did get me thinking about where it needed vacuum's to work.
what I did was to slap a tonne of grease around the rubber grommet that connects the Reservoir to the RMV. This has created a much better seal at that connection and it's all working very nicely again.
Thank you for your feedback TechTMW.
