CBR600 start problem...grrr!

#1 Unread post by Helibor »

Hi,
I have not long ago bought myself a CBR600F 97' and i am having a bit of trouble at mo starting it. I have been finding that it acts like it is having a cold start except that it is the middle of summer and very warm?!

All the right lights come on and when i press the magic button it first trys...then struggles and then i get a buzzing/grinding sound from what sounds like the starter but no effort to start. The battery seems to be healthy as i have checked this. When i checked the fuse in the starter it is fine but there seems to a a lot of chalkyness around the fuse area. Could it be just needing a clean or do i have a bigger prob?

The strange thing is thast occasionally it starts without a hitch, like there is no prob??!!

You are either not getting a good flow of electricity to the starter or the starter is dragging from time to time. Charge batt or jump start from car to make sure batt is not the problem. Clean your connections. If it continues to drag, rebuild or replace the starter. I hope this helps you.
