problem on hairpin turns

i noticed this today when im taking hairpin turns...

so i look where i want to go, which is the other side of hairpin turn. but when i do look over there... i end up too close to the dbl yellow line on left hand hairpins or i end up very close to the curb on right hand hairpins. either way, i always end up correcting myself mid turn.

any tips?

Look part way around the corner, then advance your eyes forward as you work your way around the turn.

Bike will take the shortest route you will let it to where you are looking, so don't look quite so far forward.

thanks, that makes a lot of sense.

so basically i should form an imaginary line for my eyes to follow around any corner... that's so simple in concept but im sure i'll need a lot of training to make it work smoothly.

practice practice practice

Stay in first gear, look where you want to go and make the turn at your own pace. Sounds like you are trying to go too fast and you are making too many mistakes.

And another thing when you go the parking lots to practice your turns don't do those long sweeping turns, keep it in first gear and rev it out and do some small circles and figure eights. DON'T TRY TO DO TOO MANY THINGS AT ONCE. Keep it simple and then work your way up

Actually, if he entered to fast he wouldn't be cutting the corner to tight. On a right hand he almost hits the curb and on a left he almost hits the yellow lines, or does hit them (I dunno).

This means he's turning tighter then the hairpin itself, so either speed up through it, but I bet his bike will just lean more, or don't aim so far forward.

Make really really certain that you force yourself to slide your eyes forwards, otherwise you'll just focus on something bad and go off the road. I mentally repeat look further look further to myself as I go around.

I guess what I was trying to say is that he was trying to go too fast for a corner that he probably does not know too well and he was over correcting for all the mistakes that he was making and that is why he ended up on the double yellows. How is that for an run on sentence.

And also watch out for those painted lines they can get slippery.

Look'in good man. You have never let somebody else ride your bike? Me and my buddies switch up sometimes, especially on long trips.
