Is a 1984 Yamaha Maxim 400 a good starter bike?

What I'd like to know is if this bike is going to suffice for a year or two. It will be a first bike and I'd eventually like to do some two up riding with it. Will it be ok for that? ANything else you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would say its a good starter bike, but I would wait till your confident on it before going two up. After two years you will most likely want to move up. If you are going to be doing lots of highway riding you may want to go with the xj650 or it could be a choice for a second bike.
