Hey everybody. Im sure you all are tired of the "Hi, Im new and need help" threads, but I need to be put on the right track. I'm currently 18 years old and am looking for a stylish bike that can commute me to work (25 minute drive) I live in Dallas, but the outskirts. So the traffic isnt TOO bad, but it has its times. I'm 5'10 and currently weight 220 pounds. I'll be taking some main roads, no highways or inner city driving. Im looking for a bike that'll cost me around 3k used. Something sporty looking, but that performs well. I don't currently own a car. I joined the Marine DEP, and thought I wouldnt need one, but I've been told my ship date won't be until next year. So I fugured that I'd by myself a bike and live the good life before I go off. Any help would be appreciated, especially sites to purchase used bikes in the Dallas area

i got an 03 katana 600 for around 3k. i love the bike it looks pretty sporty, it handles great. its very fast, but also forgiving(it wont take you off guard like other sport bikes), everyone says it makes a very good first bike. it has a big following of people that ride them way beyond that ha. they seem to be beyond reliable and will last as long as you can. id look around for one to see what you think of it.
