Parts

#1 Unread post by Aquaduct »

So I've got this new bike that I'm going to take a crack at and I decide to go to the dealer and check out parts. Well, predictably, $22 for four plugs, $114.70 for plug wires, and $126.63 for an ignition coil.

Well, so much for just putting parts on until it works again.

So now my question is, what's the hot ticket for motorcycle parts? Are there aftermarket parts places like Autozone? Can you get better deals on-line? If so, where?

Probably seems like a stupid question, but it'll definitely not be my last.

That was stupid, wasn't it? It's a 1999 Triumph Trophy 1200.

I bought my last set of plugs (my bike takes 8! :disgust: ) at AutoZone for $2.99/ea. plus tax. And amazingly they had them in stock! Of course, you may not be so lucky - NGK CR9E plugs are fairly common in japanese bikes - no idea what your Trumpet takes, but they could probably order them for you.

The other things, well... you may be able to Google-up a source, but you may end up buying them from your dealer. There's a lot of competition for Japanese bike parts so you can get usually get a good discount online. The places I buy parts online don't sell Triumph parts, though. Maybe some of the other Brit-bike owners here will have a link for you.

Good luck!
Let me get this straight... it's one down and four up, right?

try Dennis Kirk, I have got a lot of stuff from them. They don't give it away but they're a lot better than the stealerships.

I don't think you need to replace the ignition coil unless you tested it and know it's bad...
