The old Goldwings are hard to beat if you have a good one. Mileage dosen't hurt these old bikes if they have been maintained well.
I know several people with 200,000 plus miles on the clock. Maintenence issues are, timing belts, radiator, hoses, thermostat, water pump, and head gaskets. Age might bring on such things as, sticking brake calipers, rusty gas tanks(inside) and leaky gaskets. All in all there is a lot of problems that you can have. I do all my own work with the help of a Clymer (Honda is better but more expensive) shop manual. The old Wings are the only bike I've found that you can substitute auto parts for a lot of the OEM stuff. All the stuff I mentioned above except water pump and head gaskets can be had at your local NAPA store. So if you're into doing your own work, don't have $10,000 to spend on a new bike, an old wing might be a good bike for you. I'd say you could pick up a average 1100 for $2,000 to $2,500 where a real sweet one might be as much as $3,500. If the one you're looking at is being ridden regularly it's probably in pretty good shape, if it's been setting for a long time, get ready for some maintenence. Good luck, hope this helps you out! :D
Live it like you mean it, this ain't no dress rehearsal!
