Brakes

I posted this is another forum on the site but I am looking for as many thoughts on this as possible. I went out for a long ride today with a new helmet. Previously, I was wearing a full-face helmet. The new helmet is a half helmet. I could obviously hear a lot more with my ears uncovered. I noticed that when I squeezed thee front brake at higher speeds, I could hear what sounded like air coming out of a tube. Is this normal? It did not seem to affect the strength of the front brake. Like I said, I never noticed that sound with my old helmet on. Any ideas? Should I be concerned?

sounds to me like you are hearing the air rushing in and out through the holes in the rotor allowing the brakes to be cooler.

That's the first thing I thought as well. I appreciate the boost of confidence!

Hehe if you were truly having problems like air in the brake lines you would pull the handle all the way in without stopping or you would pull them all the way in and it would stop very slowly.

np on boost of confidence :D. I actually like the sound of the air rushing through those holes :D.

Not sure if you wear ear plugs, but you may want to think about getting a pair. With that half helmet you're being exposed to a lot more noise that is going to affect your hearing after a while.
