Insurance help?

#1 Unread post by Bubble Gum Jr. »

Where should I be looking for decent prices on bike insurance.

I'm 24 years old, fully employed, just recently got my m1 license and took the MSF course. On my driver license I've never had an accident or any traffic violations. I have a Ninja EX250 and live in San Jose, CA.

Try State Farm, Progressive, Geico.

When do you turn 25? That seems to be the big breaking point with insurance companies. That is...big drop on rates. Ask them when you shop. This will help you decide for the future as well as your current needs.

I went with Progressive. They made things simple and I can keep track of everything online without having to call an agent.

state farm only goes by cc.

so it's gonna be great for you.

it's great for those who want 600cc sportbikes too since they don't care that it makes more power than the bigger engine cruisers. they only look at engine size.

a 250cc will probably dirt cheap to insure w/ them.

I tried an online quote with Progressive and their estimate for only liability was $150 a month which was way more than I'd like to pay. My bike is worth $3,000 at the most. I don't want to pay more than 30% of it's value every year.

you arent going to find it cheaper than that and its gonna cost more than 3k to fix that bike if you get into an accident. They cover your gear as well.

btw its not per month for a motorcyle. a motorcycle is per year. I pay 330/yr for full coverage. full coverage is comp d/liability and collision. oh and I use state farm :D.

Look to see if they have Rider insurance of America. That was by far the cheapest and available from the dealer. Progessive was next.

yes. as for which insurance is cheaper well you will just have to get quotes on that. progressive, for me, was the most expensive in that they wanted $900 /yr to insure my bike. So I stuck with state farm because I have had 11 years with them and well no one can beat their prices.

Just an FYI, in North Carolina, liability-only insurance is standard among all the providers. You might want to check about your state (call a Progressive agent and ask them about it). If it's the same as NC, then you really can't go wrong with any of the providers.

So,

I would try to stay away fom geico. They quoted me at $1200 a year. For the same coverages, Progressive is goig to charge me $360 a year.

Guess which one I am going to pick
