One of my dads friends is selling his (i think 1986) Ninja 600 for 1500, he found it on craigslist and payed 1500 but put an extra 200 in for the carb cleaning and i think another 3 or so in for something else. My question is.. is it worth 1500? I have seen the bike many times and theres maybe a few dents here and there and a couple of scratches.. but nothing is broken or bent or anything like that. So yeah is it a good deal for 1500?
Oh and im taking the BRC in september.. and i was thinking if i got this bike i would just come home and practice on it after the classes.
Used Ninja600 for 1500. Good deal????
Step back and look at a few things.
The kbb value, the NADA value.
1. Is it mechanically sound? Wrecked? frame straight? engine run? engine run right? chain sprockets. tires. stuff leakin from the forks? oil oozin out anywhere?
2. do you like sport bikes? go sit on it for a half hour and be honest with yourself on its comfort.
3. First bike?
4. check the insurance rates etc...
after all of that., and its right.....

Yes it runs, runs well i might add.. I have known the guy for a while and ive sat on it and he was going to let me take it for a ride but i didnt feel confident enough to ride it. Nothing is bent on it, nothings broken, nothing leaks or oozes. I love sport bikes.. but insurance is gonna be another thing. I need to find a resonable deal on that.

The only way to determine if it's a deal is to think about how much the insurance is going to be. Make sure to shop around. Progressive wanted ~90 for 2 riders with full comprehensive insurance on my magna v30... geico wanted ~780
Since I wasn't smoking crack that day I went with progressive... I'll stand by that decision even with their horrible customer service.
